On the morning of December 31, the most traditional competition in the modality reaches its 95th edition and should have 30 thousand entries, in addition to thousands of other “popcorn”.
Route
It is on Avenida Paulista, the business heart of the richest city in Brazil, that São Silvestre begins and ends. After the start, the runners pass through other important roads in the city, such as the avenues Doutor Arnaldo, Pacaembu, Ipiranga and São João. In total, the competitors cover 15 km.
One of the factors that attracts the most experienced runners is the difficulty of the route, as São Silvestre is marked by uphill and downhill slopes. This feature is not always ideal for participants who are not yet used to running 15 km.
